After seven (7!) years of work with over 20 researchers at 10 different institutions, we are super excited to release NextBrain, a next-generation probabilistic atlas of the human brain with 333 regions.
NextBrain is built from 10,000 histological sections from 5 donated brains, that we reconstructed in 3D and thoroughly labeled.
The data from the five specimens were combined into a probabilistic atlas of the human brain describing 333 regions, which can be used as a common coordinate frame for automated segmentation of those regions in scans of living people.
